Avoid a fashion catastrophe this winter

With winter ready to make a grand entry, your wardrobe should be ready to look as striking. Gone are the old days when fashion hit the grave as winter approached and you would cover yourself with mercilessly dull cardigans and parkas. Now you can not only make layers look sexy but also experiment with those myriad layers. Follow these steps and you will look sizzling hot in the cold.

1. A good coat is a must: Unless your love for Eskimos drives you to adopt their fashion sense, chuck that parka and head to that shopping mall and get yourself some smart coats. They add salt to your fashion recipe; without a good coat, it hardly matters what you are wearing inside.

2. Don’t be afraid of colours: Winter does not mean, your fashion life has to turn black and white. Let go of those drab sweaters and dazzle up your wardrobe with some bright colours and experiment with them. A light yellow coat to top off that blue dress would totally look groovy and if you are feeling kinda hip, then top it off with a cute hat and a cool pair of sunglasses.

3. Be sensible about your shoes: Okay, so you have glamorized yourself with the right clothes and accessories but your shoes look like you have braced yourself for day-long work at a farm. The notion that smart, chic shoes are not comfortable is only a myth now. You can get yourself a pair of flat, trendy boots that would not only complement your clothing but also be comfortable and put your worry of frostbites to rest. And no, they are not expensive!

4. Get out of your comfort zone: Although it does not make sense to wear everything that your favourite actresses endorse (let’s face it, not all of us can look perfect in just about anything!), you should dare to tread out of your comfort zone and try the new “in” thing. You need not even go all the way, rather, use your own head and mix it up with your trendy handbag or accessories and give it a flavour of your own.
